Some one had recently brought up that doing fan art isn't really original art on which they are right about this since fan art is really another's person's take on someone else's creation.

However, even with the disclaimers that fan artists put on their work, is that work really safe from discrimination even with the copyright commons? By this I mean prejudice against their work and not losing it the copyright to it (the fan art). I've kept up on the current laws on the C.C. and there's no danger of the other concern at this point in time.

I'm wondering this because it is true that the people popular on any art group that allows fan art of any kind, it is always the fan artists that get all the attention whether good or bad and that's fan artists of POPULAR pop culture stuff at that too.

But unless the fan artists can come up with strong original characters like the artists Boris Vallejo, Nene Thomas, Robert Crumb, Frank Frazetta, etc, then no one cares about their work or even giving them a chance. I've seen this to be true so far.

There are other group art sites that don't allow fan art for those reasons and their standards are really high too. It's like all the members are creative arts majors or more. All the stuff from everyone is beyond awe inspiring!!

Thinking about that has made me think that I probably should not do fan art in future ( and it's BEEN a long while too! Hey, when life gives you a rundown, it can take a loooong time to get back up. I'm STILL working on it!) It's still hard not to fav fan art I like though.
